The Vallejo True Metallic Metal series is a sophisticated 4-step system , with each color available in coordinated versions. This allows you to build up metallic surfaces step by step: from the opaque base color to targeted lightening and realistic shadows , all the way to the airbrush version for larger areas.
The shade variant is a satin-matte, non-metallic version of the same color and is used for creating shadows, filter effects, or tone corrections. Since real shadow surfaces on metals hardly reflect, SHADE delivers realistic darkening without metallic particles.
The Shade variant works perfectly in combination with Base and Light. While Base provides the mid-tone metallic shade and Light creates highlights, Shade is used to create depth and contrast.
A little prior knowledge is recommended, because to use Shade correctly, you need to pay attention to where natural shadows form on your miniature. In these areas , you apply the color precisely to create depth and contrast.
